Ranking Web of Research Centers 2nd 2011 edition
|
The Ranking Web is updated twice a year (end of January & July). The list is very comprehensive and includes not only research bodies
but other institutions closely related to scientific activities that cover topics such as technology, social sciences and humanities. The Ranking offer the classification of the Top 4.000 institutions according to their web presence and link visibility, which is an indicator of their
impact and prestige.
Rank summarizes the global performance of the institutes and centers, provides information for candidate researchers, and
reflects the commitment to the dissemination of scientific knowledge.
We intend to motivate both institutions and scientists to have a web presence that reflect accurately their activities.
If the web performance of an institution is below the expected position according to their academic excellence, scientific authorities
should reconsider their web policy, promoting substantial increases of the volume and quality of their electronic publications
Please take into account the following facts about the criteria for inclusion and the methodology:
- There a few centers with more than one main domain. In these cases we analyze all of the domains but only the best ranked one is published,
even if this domain is not the new (current) or the preferred one. One asterisk (*) marks the institutions with two or more domains.
- Since 2009 the ranking is derived from a composite indicator of the normalized values of each variable, not from the ordinals. These
individual ranks are provided mainly for reference.
- The global and councils rankings are not exactly the same as important libraries and information centers (NLM, INIST) has been excluded from
the councils' lists.
The database is still incomplete, so we will thank your cooperation providing information about
organizations not listed or listed incorrectly. Please feel free to send us an EMAIL
so we can add the new ones to the next updated version.
